What will you do with the power?
 

Competitive cyclists can produce 100 ? 300 watts for between 20 minutes and one hour depending on fitness level.

 

Semi-competitive cyclists can produce 50-150 watts for between 20 minutes and one hour depending on fitness level.

 

Recreational cyclists can produce between 20-100 watts for between 20 minutes and one hour depending on fitness level.

The below chart is an example of power consumption and will vary considerably depending on the manufacturer and capacity.

The actual conversion of the energy from DC current to AC to operate some equipment will require that energy be stored in batteries then inverted to AC and used for the above products.

 

The highest and best use of the energy created is to go directly to a hot water heater.  Hot water heaters can be programmed to accept varying levels of power and the water will be heated accordingly.
